Smurfit Kappa Townsend Hook
Smurfit Kappa Townsend Hook’s Operation has two machines.
PM 7, a four metre single-wire Fourdrinier machine produces waste-based fluting medium.
PM 8 is a 4.4 metres machine which was rebuilt in 1996 at a cost of £30 million. It has a triple-wire configuration designed for 'Swing' capabilities. Currently producing high quality Test Liner 2, Test Liner 3, and Fluting Medium.
Both machines are served by a totally new pulping line, allowing fractionised fibres to be directed to the optimum layer. This, together with a new dispersion system, provides world class quality, using the latest technologies.
Smurfit Kappa SSK
PM 4 at Smurfit Kappa SSK is a 2 ply machine measuring 4.75 metres, hybrid former, and running at a speed of 800 metres per minute.
The high standard of finished product is aided by the automated handling and warehouse systems which are unique to SSK.
Currently producing Testliner 2, Testliner 3 and Waste Based Fluting.
